Colorado's Curl Queen

After Melissa received her cosmetology license in 2008, she began looking for a Salon to work in, that specializes in Curly textured hair like hers. To her dismay she found that none existed, so she booth rented at Mykal Grant Salon, and then moved on to Salon Bodhi.

In 2010, while a booth renter at Salon Bodhi, she introduced the Ouidad Product line and the Carve and Slice® to Denver. That Summer, Melissa set out with Stacy Jo (Salon Bodhi Owner) to advance her knowledge and education by venturing out to NYC, to obtain her Ouidad® Training and Certification. Melissa was personally trained by Ouidad herself in the Carve and Slice® cutting technique, but has advanced and built upon it greatly, to what we now call our “Curly Session”.

In 2011, Melissa returned to NYC to take part of the new Ouidad Train the Trainer pilot program, where she became the first Certified Ouidad Educator outside of the Ouidad Flagship Salon in NYC. That program has since dissolved, and Melissa is not considered a Ouidad educator. Her education, Curly improvisation, and teaching experience, has set Melissa and the Staff at More Than Curly apart from any Curly Salon in the nation.

Since opening in 2011 with an average of 3 Curl Specialists, More Than Curly® Salon has performed thousands of Curly services and counting, and continues to grow as the premiere Curly Salon in the Rocky Mountain region.
