**COMPLIMENTARY DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENT FOR FIRST TIME CLIENTS**
Below are some of the questions we hear most often, with our responses.
If you have a particular question not listed here, please feel free to email: bookme@morethancurly.com
If you are a First Time Client, check out the LONG video of our herstory which may answer the question: "Who or what in the world is More Than Curly?"
Q: Why can't I book a One Hour Curly Session as a First Time Client?
A: In order for your Curl Specialist to properly conduct your first appointment, that includes your consultation, cut, education and style, a 1.5 Hour or greater service is required.
Q: I want to book a color service, but I don't see it as an option for online booking.
A: Existing clients can connect with their stylist while at the Salon to book for Color, or if you are an existing client, you can email: bookme@morethancurly to request a Color Service, or to add Color to an existing appointment. If there is time, it will be added, and you can see the notification of the appointment change with your Vagaro App.
Q: How should my hair be prepped for my service?
A: Detangle your hair from root to end. You will receive a Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioning service (free for first time clients), each visit. We ask that your hair is out of braids, protective styles, and detangled prior to your visit. Detanglement is $50, and if required...your stylist may not have enough time to perform the actual service you booked for.
Q: Do you cut Kids Hair?
A: Yes. We service Curly Kids frequently, and as long as your child is not displaying any discomfort, or extreme anxiety the service can be performed. (You know your child best). If the service cannot be completed, you will still be charged the full amount of the service. (See our Salon Policies) for further information on Child Hair Services.
Q: Do you do the Deva Cut?
A: We do not cut dry, but do teach the More Than Curly Girl Method that emphasizes healthy curly hair practices. Melissa introduced the Ouidad Carve and Slice® to Denver in 2010 and we've seen great client results with it. We are open minded to various ways to Cut Curly Hair, after all - one size does not fit all. Our herstory video above explains how the Naturally Curly revolution in Denver got started.
Q: Do you do Black or Mixed Hair?
A: As a Chemical Free, exclusively Curly Salon, we perform services on a variety of Curl Patterns. Our specialty is cutting and coloring Loose/Wavy, Classic and Tight Curls, that are found within a variety of ethnicities.
Q: Do you do Color Services?
A: Yes! We do Root Touch-Ups, Highlights, All Over Color, and "Balayage" type of gradations.
Q: Why can't I book a Color Service Online?
A: Color services require a consultation, and are not available for booking online as of now. You can book a Color Service, and manage that booking after your visit to the Salon.
Q: How do I manage my appointments?
A: Download the Vagaro App or visit Vagaro.com and create a profile to manage your appointments.
Q: My hair is 4C, it's damaged by heat or chemicals, can you make me look like the Instagram pic I fell in love with?
A: Yes and No. Yes, we can start you on a Healthy Curly Journey with a Kinky Session™, or Transition Session™ that may require a Big Chop, and several visits to achieve your ultimate hair goal. No, we are not magicians nor can we perform miracles if your hair goals are not realistic.
Q: I have a picture of what I want my hair to look like, can you match that?
A: Maybe. Every curl pattern and texture is unique, and our goal is to bring out the best Curly YOU, rather than have you looking like someone else from an Instagram post or online picture, that may say "natural" but actually be added hair, hair pushed forward specifically for the photo, or even dare I say...a Curly wig.
Q: Can I get color on my first visit?
A: Maybe. It depends on the overall health of your hair, which is determined by the picture you send in on the New Client Form. Our number one goal for you is healthy Curls first, then we can talk about color options.
Q: Do you straighten hair?
A: We do not.
Q: How much for a haircut?
A: Our Cut Sessions are a package that includes a FREE Consultation, a Complimentary Deep Conditioning Treatment (for first time clients), haircut, product knowledge, education, and wash and go styling. Current pricing varies for a variety of beauty budgets, and can be found on our online booking page.
Q: Do you offer payment plans for your hair services?
A: Yes! Vagaro has a "Pay Later" option that allows you to break up your service cost into payments.
Q: Why do you require a 50% Deposit to Book a service?
A: More Than Curly Salon is the busiest Curly Salon in the region, and there is a waitlist for certain services. The deposit is fully refundable if you need to cancel with 24 hours notice.
Q: Why is there such a difference in pricing for stylists?
A: We want you to have options that fit your beauty budget. Pricing for Cuts is based on demand and experience. Our least experienced stylist, has more training/experience than most "Curl Experts" in the Denver Market before they are ready to accept clients. This is due to the high volume of Curly Clients we serve, and with the various textures we see. Our Curl Specialists each see on average over 1,000 Cuts per year.
Q: Who is the best stylist for me to choose?
A: You can choose any Curl Specialist, or Associate you'd like, depending on the service you choose. They are all trained by Melissa and approved before being released to perform Curly services. Our Associate stylists in training are also a more affordable option if you'd like to be a Hair Cut Model, and all Cuts are signed off by a Curl Specialist.
Q: Do you cut hair wet or dry?
A: We perform our Session haircuts wet.
Q: Do you use Curling Irons, Rods, do blowouts, flat irons or straighten hair?
A: We may bring low heat flat iron services back, but haven't seen a huge demand for it. For sure we will never use rods, or Curling Irons. We celebrate natural curls, and with the proper cut in place and good product along with education, we show you how your Curls can be their best without tools.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located at 15500 Broncos Pkwy Unit E, Centennial Co. 80112. It's the intersection of Broncos Pkwy and Jordan Rd. in Centennial.
Q: Do you sell products at the Salon?
A: Yes, we have available everything that is used during your service at the Salon. Including angled diffusers.
Q: I have product allergies, and don't like your product lines. What should I do?
A: The best way to determine if the products we carry and use are the best for your Curl Type, is for you to do your own independent research on Ouidad, Moroccanoil, and LOMA haircare products.
Product ingredients that may cause allergic reactions vary so much from product to product, that we suggest you cross reference the ingredients you KNOW you are allergic to, with the ingredient list on the products that are listed above.
Q: Do you use products with Sulfates or Silicones?
A: Yes. Please keep in mind though, that there are good sulfates, and there are bad sulfates. There are good silicones, and there are bad silicones. There are good ingredients, and there are bad ingredients. Silicones allow for "slip" when applying product, and when formulated correctly will not damage your curls.
We only carry and use what WE as professionals have determined works best for most Curly Hair Textures here in Colorado. The Ouidad® Product line has been proven to be a great line for various Curl patterns for decades. There are products targeted to Curly or textured Hair, that are absolutely horrible in a dry or semi arid climate.
Our Curl Specialists are committed to seeking out the best professional products available for services, to ensure you have healthy and manageable hair, and we are always learning.
Q: Do you do braids or Locs?
A: We do not do Locs. Braiding may be done as a protective style, but not as a stand alone service.
Q: Can I get a bang trim?
A: Yes, with a service.
Q: Why are your stylist showing no availability for weeks. Do they only work 2 days a week or something?
A: Our staff of 4 work an average of 35 hours per week. When you have a dedicated and passionate staff of Curly Specialists, who are the best in the Region, with word of mouth advertising to family, friends, co-workers, and amazed people on the streets commenting.."Your Curls are AMAZING" you tend to get booked out.
